.GIF BECAUSE WEDNESDAY!!!
any more? I will try to answer them during net weekend. I will try to answer general things with a picture, or write out questions concerning lore
Well… as with any political system, there are those who oppose it. There are those who want Roneighnia to be unified under a central government, there are those who want the aristocracy to hold power, there are those who want it to be a patriarchal society, there are even sub-groups within some of the families that quarrel amongst themselves! The region I was born in, Valea Lunii Cazut, was the best of the regions in terms of agriculture. The mountain chain that divides the country is curved drastically in the middle, making a kind of C shape. Being surrounded on three sides by mountains allows clouds to be caught, giving the region plenty of rainfall! My mom, Ioana Albu, was on a trip to one of the smaller farming communities when there was a terrorist attack. There is no telling which group was responsible, but they punctured the ammonia tanks that helped fertilize the lands. The tanks blew from the drastic change in pressure, and the escaping gas caused severe burns. Ioana was amongst the casualties. Years later my Father and I traveled to a neighboring region, Shores de Fals Dumnezeu, for a diplomatic mission. We were to borrow a ship from the coastal region and actually sail to the city of Baltimare! The hardest preparation was learning to speak Equestrian. There had been minor trading transactions, and thus some documentation on how to speak it. Despite these trades, it was nothing serious on a political or diplomatic level. THIS, however, was part of an effort to open stronger foreign relations with Equestria. Roughly half a week into the voyage one of the House Albu’s gardian al casei, an elite guard unit, woke me up in the middle of the night. I immediately heard screams and the clash of steel from outside, and was dragged to the stern of the ship and placed into a dinghy. As the small craft sailed away into the night’s mist I watched in horror as the larger vessel was set ablaze. Soon after, the guards explained to me that my father and I had been the targets, apparently part of a coup for the title my uncle held. The assumed reason was “the fewer people in line for the title, the fewer rivals”. When we finally arrived in baltimare, the few guards that accompanied me were half starved, preferring to give me most of the rations to ensure my survival. I had talked to Her Excellency Celestia in my father’s stead, and asked if I could seek refuge in Equestria. She allowed the remaining guards to be given medical attention, and the be retrained for the Royal Guard. She had put me under the care of an old astronomer named Cornelia Von Godfrey. Shortly after my benefactor had sent me off to a boarding school. I was so happy to be in a stable lifestyle! Shortly after I was enrolled, the other colts began hazing me. They harassed me, ridiculing my still thick accent, and because for the longest time there was no real effort between the two countries to interact, they assumed that Roneighnia was backwards. I had never experienced this kind of xenophobia before, and patiently waited for a holiday where I could see Cornelia! It broke my heart when she never showed… to any of them. The Dean of the school had told me he was a good friend of hers and that she would show for the next holiday, but it never happened. I had thought for the longest time that she sent me away to get rid of me, and I began to loath her for it. I hated the school, hated the other colts, hated the Dean, and hated her. I spent most of my time studying for my classes, and the day after I graduated the dean came to me as I packed what little I had. “What do you plan to do now that you’ve graduated?” he asked. “I owe Her Excellency my life for allowing me to stay, and given my superior grades I already qualify to go to an Officer’s Academy.” I replied. He looked at me for some time before speaking again. “You know, you’re still just a colt, a bit wet behind the ears if you know what I-” I had cut him off to ask him “And just where would I go? Cornelia? She all but abandoned me here!” Slowly, he stepped forward, I could make out a tear in his eye. “She had passed away just a few months after you arrived. Given everything that had happened to you, I didn’t see it as the right time to tell you. I’m truly sorry, but I thought it would have just added unneeded stress.” He pulled out a small envelope and handed it to me. “Do try and understand why I withheld this from you, and please don’t hate her for not being there.” I never saw him after that, and I stared at the letter for what seemed like hours. I was mad, not at her but at myself. I hated myself for assuming she abandoned me, and for atonement I took the name Cornelius Von Godfrey. I was only sixteen at the time.
Well, my birth name was… is… Raul Albu. My surname, Albu, comes from the fact I was a member of House Albu. You see, Roneighnia has no “set” ruler. There are seven regions, each ruled by a matriarchal family. The term “family” in this case is not limited to people literally in the family, and include those who have been invited. Usually the people who are invited into a family service them as a guard, tax collector, judicial council member, priest, or a minor official who reside over a subsection of a region. The society is matriarchal in the sense that the head of a household (called Domn), the Archdeacons, and the head of the judicial councils are titles that can only be held by a mare, and as such stallions can be in councils, and serve as officials. An example would be my uncle! He holds the title of “Jude” and as such presides over a province that includes a city and a number of smaller settlements! I was the seventeenth in line to carry on the title.
Far across the eastern shores of Equestria lies the small island country of Roneighnia. Rolling fields of lush, green grass circle around thick forests of imposingly large trees. The whole of the land is split roughly down the middle by mountains. It really is a beautiful place, And I do miss it sometimes.
any more questions?
You see… THIS actually happens quite often when I try to cook (I-I don’t understand why…) and so I’m use to it. They stop moving after I’ve beaten them with a meat tenderizer, leaving me to simply wipe it all up with a towel! It’s a bit of a laugh for me… Really! (my pride hurts….)
[ooc] I wish I did not have to hold the picture so close to webcam to take picture. it cut off half of front legs and much of back legs, making him look funny =\
